The
size of our parties range from one to six hunters, shooting at decoyed
birds.
Our sea duck hunts are conducted from the seaworthy 21' Goliath boats by Bankes Marine. These boats are considered the ultimate open water boat, with plenty of space for comfort and safety. Our Goliath is equipped with a Susuki 150HP 4-stroke engine mounted on a jack-plate to allow access to low water estuaries. Mobility is key to a successful hunt, and these seaworthy boats offer it. Safety is first and foremost, and safety gear include USCG PFD's, EPIRB by Spot, GPS/Color Map system, cell phone, and two VHF radios.
Sea
duck and diver layout rigs consist of three Mighty Layout Boy's layout boats and dozens of
high quality decoys. MLB layouts are considered the best in the industry. For Goose hunts, we'll deploy Big Foot
and Outlaw decoys.
On land, you'll hunt from dry, comfortable lay-down blinds such as the Final Approach Eliminators or Hay
Bale Blinds.
You'll
be able to watch the birds work as Ruben's championship calling
brings them into easy range of your waiting gun. Your shots will
typically be from 5 feet to 20 yards away.
SEASON
Seaduck hunts usually begin October 1st and end January 20th.
Brant and ducks run a sixty-day season from December through January.
WHAT TO BRING
New
England weather is known to be unpredictable and reputed to change
every 15 minutes. Bring along warm clothing in camo or drab browns
and greens. Wet weather gear is recommended. Water resistant gloves
are a must. Hip boots or neoprene chest waders are also recommended.
You will need to purchase a local hunting license and state
stamp. Bring along your federal duck stamp and a current or last
year's hunting license and a hunter safety certificate (both needed
to purchase your license).
A
reliable shotgun in 12 or a 10 gauge, with 3 or 3 1/2 inch
chambers sporting modified chokes. Shotguns must be plugged to hold
no more than three shells. All ammo must be non-toxic in either
#2, #1 or BB's. Two to three boxes of shells per day should
be allotted. A cleaning kit is recommended for saltwater hunts.
We strictly adhere to all game laws.
